great post. i think that there are forces at work here beyond what we know or care to acknowledge. both sy and bob b. agree that we are in a secular bear. this has happened before and if you look at what happened before, people have reacted and invested in a similar way. the 70's were bad- really bad ,but the market did certain things and guess what, i expect that the market (investors) will react in a very similar way this time. i am looking at the threads that deal with semi's and tech and listening to them find reasons for why the market can go either way. just like we are doing here by the way. and if you step back- way back and look at what the "big" market ie s&p has done in history, we do come out of these terrible situations and climb that wall of worry..... and go up,up until as greenshades said "it ends" ---then we start this secular bear all over again. it is eery how this is like the 70's. :)
