Re: Expiration of MSFT's Endorsement of ICA / Linux Lucius,
"As I understand it, the payments were for allowing MSFT to incorporate CTXS designed code in their NT product. MSFT was unable to develop this code by themselves, so it was more than just a marketing agreement."
Yes, I believe your statement is accurate. And I think we are saying the same thing, but I am not wording it quite right. What expires in November is a marketing agreement. It's independent of when the, "royalty," payments expire.
"Linux is another approach to solving the reliability - cost of ownership problem, but this involves leaving the Microsoft universe."
Well not so fast. I have an interesting statement to post that I cannot understand? But since you brought up Linux, it's a perfect time to ask. Here's what Lehman Brother says about Linux...."For those concerned about Linux's impact on Microsoft, here is one positive datapoint. The ICA for Linux client from Citrix is showing the most growth of all the available clients. Guess what? Microsoft (and Citrix) is the beneficiary because customers using Linux have to buy Windows terminal server client access licenses and MetaFrame (it is non-Windows)."
Do you know what the analyst is saying? I'm at a loss. Maybe if you don't, some of those Citrix Solution Providers, who frequent this thread, can clear it up.
