John, I wholeheartedly agree - options are not for everyone. They can be used in different ways - for speculation, for income or to protect one's investment. My first experience with them was several years ago in an MBA program - I had a large gain in Dec that I wanted to protect. My finance professor advised me to buy put options to limit my downside - it worked! Gary
