As for the number of trades, I'm not thinking about it while trading. If the stock turns, it gets traded. However many trades that generates, so be it.
My trade frequency obviously goes up on a directionless, non-volatile day because there are fewer runs that one can patiently ride. In retrospect, I would have done better sitting Friday out. Sometimes, but not always, maximum profits come from minimum trades. Other times, but not always, a high rate of trades can improve profits. It depends on the day.
The joy of trading, and investing, is that there is so much to learn, and one never ceases to improve.
