Micheal..I went through two massive pull backs when foreign competiton
entered the pc market. the Koreseans and all aren't slouches..
the other times when all that oversupply hit they wrote cpq off and
stk tanked regardless of great performance.
This time it didn't. Here's what happened. the over supply put so much pressure on the companies..that the weakies fall out..
Then cpq got some of that fallout and ended up with a bigger share in the end.
These are facts not myths.. remember when this happened I lost allot of money on paper..it came back but these are not things I don't recall.
I've seen more interviews that are allot more one sided..
Please interview MB or Leo..<g> the whole thread will agree on that one <g>. I'm the middle ground ..I'm positive.
Cpq actually has systems that are allot better than the Japanese.
Notice all the 10q commemts on re-engineering.. that will make them exponentially better. Japanese rave over the present systems of compaq... I've talked to them.
You shouldn't be expected to understand the 10q w/o questions.
I understand it only becasue I was there so long and I saw events turned into print in 10q and 10k....This 10q is a whoopper.!!!
Cpq is moving to high ground like they always do.. servers, workstations..etc. etc. I don't know of a single I/S director that
likes to mix servers.. it's just not wise.. Please see comments on how these servers can be used to keep uptime 100% regardless of hardware failures. I did this post to Mb last week . I appreciated his comment back to.
I have repeatedly told people not to play cpq long... I also say
at this price don't short or put. Find another play for awhile and if you cannot be that patient then go put your money in mutual fund
..you shouldn't be investing for yourself.
Okay..you read 10q..I wrote another post first that commented about some of the points they were making. It's before the 10q ..read it..
it makes sense.
In short..cpq needs to pull off the 100mm re-eng projects to be the top dawg and by 2000+ be the biggest computer company in U.S. like pfief said... LAst time pfief said this he won.. He said several yrs back they would be the biggest pc company and beat his goal by yrs.
