No follow-up except that I read a similar post on the AOL MF as well. It makes an awful lot of sense because the eMates are damn affordable. It also makes sense because of Apple's education focus and the fact that eMates communicate equally well with desktop pcs and macs.

What I also like about it is the chance that eMate sales would count as full-fledged laptop sales. It would make Apple's market share look huge. In fact, I've been unable to find someone who knows how the eMates have been counted in 1997. I do know Apple sold about 100,000 of them but not sure where they show up in terms of units sold. Assume they aren't in the PDA lists.
