I really hope a lively tailless squirrel will cross my path soon, so I can stop worrying about it. A squirrel-less tail is never a good sign! However, it can sometimes happen. Some friends have a large tailless squirrel that begs for peanuts in the shell right outside their back door. It doesn't move like a normal squirrel and when it begs, it almost always falls over on its side after a few seconds -- no doubt it's a little handicapped -- probably needs some form of prosthetic tail device. However, it's fat and healthy thanks to the steady supply of peanuts. So, there's still hope for the squirrel whose tail you found on the porch. -croc
