My father-in-law kept all of his equipment in superb condition -- very careful using, maintaining and storing it. His seeder was a real beauty -- huge old wooden wagon wheels and a wooden grainbox that was wonderfully painted in red with curly yellow pin-striping and old-fashioned lettering. Quite a few pieces of his equipment were like that -- horse-drawn machinery which he had adapted over for use with his tractor. Of course, in later years, he got much larger equipment, but not really until around 1985 or so. Pretty amazing what he managed to do with his 200 acre farm and herd of about 30 milking head of cattle -- but that says more about the man than about the kind of machinery he had to work with. (o:
