Acacia Research Increases Ownership in MerkWerks Corporation
PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1999--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq/NM:ACRI - news) announced today that it has increased its ownership of MerkWerks Corporation from 89.6% to 99.9%.

Acacia Research acquired the additional equity ownership from a group of private investors in exchange for issuance of 60,107 shares of Acacia Research common stock and $31,000 in cash.

MerkWerks is a software development company that is currently focusing on the completion of its first product CD WonderWriter(TM). WonderWriter is designed to be used in conjunction with CD-Recordable (''CD-R'') computer drives. This software will offer an easy and reliable method for computer users to create, copy and record information onto their own CDs, including text, music and video.
