Good question about closing my straddles. I closed them to raise cash, though I probably should have held them. One thing I may do, if the market drops again (dow is now negative) is to buy calls on emc and qcom at the same strike as the puts I already bought, thus effectively straddling my puts, and profiting from both the straddle and the common on the next rally.
