When you worked for IBM, they had to make a profit to pay you. You were a part of it. Now you don't care and just want to be on the take.My points weren't D or R but what America was founded on. I don't know what happened to you along the way. I very much care.....I have a son and a son-in-law working for them. IBM and all other corps make profits because of their employees not in spite of them......they are very flexible, they are always willing to pay you less. No one should feel any loyalty to such employers because the sentiment will not be reciprocated....you'll be chopped the minute they want to do it... They paid me for my services because they wanted my services and they got a helluva lot more than they paid for......but when push comes to shove, you will be shoved.....
Now, fyi, I have never been on the take and have never taken anything from anyone or anything. I've been a Democrat all my life because my father was, who had gone to work in coal mines right out of third grade. He became a slate picker at about 9 years old. He was only about 50 years old when the mines closed and never had a full time job after that...his pension, when he was eligible, was to be 100 dollars a month but he only got that for 3 months before it was cut to 50, and then 30, and then nothing...... Had the miners not been unionized, he would have gotten even less..... I have never belonged to a union, and didn't want to be, but support their existence.
IBM had excellent benefits while I was there but their pension system sucked......I get less than 36% of my final years salary and the pension system no longer exists for employees with 20+ years of service. Anything we have is attributable to my wife and me alone..... FYI, most of my income is obtained just the way the rich guys get it, from dividends and interest (ha ha)......but I don't get a megabuck a year...... In my view America was founded on fairness and taking care of each other.... |
