Do you think propriety of a mother talking about her naked son should inhibit me? Naw, me neither.
No, I didn't... but when you appeared and posted something about tomatoes without saying anything about the play, I thought, "Hmmm...should I ask? Perhaps Ammo dropped his handful of clothes at an inappropriate moment and mom hasn't recovered sufficiently to write a review."
just teasing, of course...<g>
Sounds like things went very well, and yes, I know what you mean about performances changing from night to night. In the past, I've mentioned fringe theatre and it is a good example of performances actually evolving over the period of a week. We sometimes go to performances on our own earlier in the week, and if we're impressed, we'll invite friends to go to the same shows later in the week. The change is sometimes remarkable. I attribute part of this to the upheaval of moving productions form city to city, so the first couple of nights in any city are probably a little less polished. Also, our fringe festival used to be the one that kicked off the season up here, so a lot of the plays were being performed for the very first time. No doubt, if you went to the same play in another city at summer's end, it might not seem at all the same. Anyhow, yes, the chemistry of plays keeps changing from day to day and that's part of the fun of live theatre. Btw, you asked about our fringe festival last week and I neglected to respond. Unfortunately, it is no more. The Evil City, located about 15 miles from the town which used to host the fringe festival, decided that it TOO wished to have a festival and began holding it the week immediately after the one in our town. That kicked the heck out of the town festival as many of the people who used to come to the country for the festival just stayed in the city instead. Grrrhh!!! I don't think we'll see a festival out in our town again, but a couple of towns further away from the city have started up their own festivals, so that's nice to see.
Well, thank you for the review. Good to hear that everything went so well. And yes, I can understand why you might be feeling a little sad right now, but(!!) with some luck, perhaps this is just the end before a new beginning in professional theatre, and soon you'll be jetting around to performances in other cities!
