John, I am certain that there is no such thing as certainty. All of our knowledge is based on what we percieve around us, and what we learned from others. We either accept or reject what others have told us, which is, in turn, their version of reality.
I cannot really be certain that there is no god. All I can do is look at the evidence around me, such as the great age of the Earth as shown by sea-floor spreading, mountain building, atomic decay rates, etc., and compare that to the hard-to-believe Bible stories like Noah's Ark, Garden of Eden, the nonsense in Revelation, etc. Looking at all this stuff, I BELIEVE there is a high probability that there is no god. I am really amazed that any grownup believes the Bible is true. The evangelists are "certain" that there is a god. I am certain of nothing.
Is a virus a life form? Are you sure?
