There's no doubt about that. Most people seem happiest to be clones and to conform with the crowd and the alpha male. When caught up in the opposing gang [or a gang that isn't their own] they feel threatened. Usually for good reason.

Rambi described the horrid little worms all writhing, then the beauty when they all sang in tune and became human. For a short time.

It's a tricky business finding harmony in a mob while all sorts of individuals have all sorts of ideas. Live and let live is my preference = the liberal idea. No victim = no crime. But to make great music, the orchestra needs a conductor and all to fit into the scheme, at least temporarily, leaving individualism aside.
