As a kid I always thought adults were incredibly dumb. Now I am 50 yrs plus, I still think kids are right. Adults can provide good guidance to kids, but only if they drop the pretence they know squat to start with.

Sure Genetic research is O.K. providing some dumb idiot adult doesn't start deciding which kids are smart and which ones aren't and who gets the better educational resources. A straight case of the blind leading the blind. I know all this crapola happens in life anyway, it just makes my skin crawl when I see guys who think they know better and start trying to formalise a "scientific" explanation of why some kid from one race isn't as good as another. As if they know squat to start with.

You will always get lots of wealthy dumb idiot parents throwing money at some con artist who will say that they can make thier own kids more intelligent and successful. The real question is that maybe it's the interest and the concern of the parents that can make a real difference.

Your example of Sho Yano is maybe a good example in this respect.

Yano also attributes his interest to his parents who were always reading and discussing scientific issues, and who would often clearly explain those issues to him.
