I had an old raleigh 10 speed many years ago - those were solid bikes. The climate here is not bike friendly either, a major reason I want to move away to somewhere with much better outdoor weather - too hot and humid now - I just watched a history special were a lot of british battles were lost because they were fighting in hot humid climates with those heavy red coats and their enemies would have only a light shirt on. They claimed major battles were decided on heat exhaustion.
