My sense was that the objection was to the group being allowed to meet there because of its message -- perhaps that having active gays meet on school grounds to promote acceptance of gays, and perhaps of the gay lifestyle, in the home of impressionable young people, was objectionable.

The school board had twice refused them permission to meet there. Then the ACLU got involved and presumably threatened litigation of they didn't give in, so they did. And the students and parents didn't want them near their kids.

That's my interpretation of it.

Our school was used by a local church group for many years before they got their own building.
