Of course it all depends on the application. If its a standard financial accounting application, ORCL has those modules. If its a
totally custom app then probably its best to stick with the old code.
Orcl has SW that runs on Mainframes too. It doesn't have to be a C/S
conversion.

Well if the Legacy sytems has no DOCs and no SRC Code then you might as well start from scratch. Sounds like some old sawmill kept together
with baling wire and when the Electrician leaves the whole plant goes down since no one knows what is what. Now wo't it be nice to have a
new modern sawmill with upto date computer control system instead of the old legacy control Relays.

Well is this company planning on using this spagetti code for the
next thosand years. Someday it will have to be done why not now.
They don't have to rewrite the code following what the OLD programmers wrote. Why not start from scratch using available standard modules
and all new HW. They would have had to buy new HW anyways.
World Class Companies like Alcan have gone the ORCL route and implemented all new HW and SW and added new capabilites too.
I didn't say the conversion had to be to a multi server C/S.
