"Bush's problem is that he needs the support of terrorists to fight terrorists" Concept of national interest vis a vis morality is not an easy one. Mideast involves many prime US interests--oil, democracy, balance of power etc. No it aint easy and support of israel is tempered by the reality. The israelis know this and work the system. Expulsion of pals or leveling jenin is unacceptable to the us. Being a pariah state vis a vis the feckless europeans(your bedfellows on iraq issue) is one thing, becoming a pariah state vis a vis the US is quite another.
