Politically, US elections are contested between a conservative party, Democrat, and a reactionary (omit incendiary description to keep on topic) party, Republican. The left have very little influence or power and are not a threat to Israel. Most liberal Jews are strong supporters of Israel. The "self hating" ones are a small, powerless fringe group. Israel's biggest threat in the US comes from people in power who would sacrifice the security of Israel in favor of other agendas. Notice, I used the word "threat", not "enemy". RE: "...pics of destruction of jenin and masses of pals trekking accross the jordan..." If the emphasis is on sparing life vs. taking life, and using oil money to resettle refugees in Arab lands instead of paying families of suicide bombers, then public opinion will agree that it was a necessary decision.
