My PUC disallowed the cable cos request to charge for each PC hooked up to a cable service. Instead, they can charge ~$30 per IP address. So, if one has 2-5 PCs in a home, one can either order 2-5 cable hookups or pay one cable hookup by installing a cheap router. A simple and cheap solution while you're waiting for your favorite RBOC to bring you ADSL.
