"contrary to your belief...we do not go out just to slaughter neighbors...IF you bother to look at history, the USA has come to the aid of more countries than anyone in the world."
Since that ISN'T 'my belief'... and I have never said it is, we are not in disagreement on this point.
"I choose to believe that is so BECAUSE we are a Christian nation, looking out for our neighbors."
To be able to continue this discussion in at least a half-way intelligent manner, you must first explain your terms to me.
When you say 'neighbor', are you referring to nations, or individuals?
I.e., when you say we must 'help our neighbors around the world', (by going to war, in this example), are you proposing that we wage war against any or ALL nations in the world as we choose --- even starting preemptive wars when those nations have not attacked us --- or are you referring to individuals?
If by 'neighbors' you mean 'nations anywhere', consider this: if two nations, both Democracies for example, wage war against one another... but have not attacked us, do you propose that we 'help' one neighbor by intervening militarily on it's side, against the other, (as opposed to staying out of the conflict), and if so what is the basis for deciding that alignment? |
