Hi Skipper,
I am Aaron, my dad is Jim. I am a 23 year old college student. My dad showed me some of the threads running through here and I was interested in yours. I will help you out by saying that I believe what my dad believes. (There was a time when I believed it because he believed it, I now believe it because I know Jesus Christ to be the answer.)
You say, "I accept uncertainty, where the established religions claim to have the entire truth." In religion, yes there is uncertainty, even in my belief there is diversity (I couldn't possibly name all the different Christian churches - i.e., Baptist, Charismatic, Protestant, etc.). Yet there is a difference, our claim is not that the truth is in religion, but in Jesus Christ. If it is in Jesus Christ then you have a simple task before you: Prove that Jesus Christ is not God. The fact that Jesus Christ lived is a well proven fact (check any history book). The difference is that Jesus Christ claimed to be both God and Man. Discredit the Deity of Jesus Christ and you will prove Christianity to be totally false. I can make it even easier: Christianity hinges on the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. If He did not rise, all that I believe is useless. If you prove that Jesus did not rise from the dead, you will have proved Christianity to be totally false.
You have a simple task in front of you, do the research and tell me what you come up with. If you can disprove the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I would be totally willing to change my beliefs.
I am not on chat lines much (very little time between work and school) so feel free to email me at aarong@seasurf.com. |
