Seriously, to expand on what I said earlier, transgenic milk production of proteins has enormous advantages over either recombinant prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell culture. However, there is some concern about consistency in results, infection of the host animal, etc. Many of the things which make a living, breathing bioreactor so attractive can make it a nightmare from a quality control standpoint. In addition, there is now work underway on transgenic production in plants of mammalian biomolecules (eventually making the Midwest one big pharma plant :-o), but that is much further down the way.

All this considered, production by lactation will probably be one of the big technologies in the next decade. Now the only question is will GZTC be the leader in this field when revenues start to roll in?
