I am dressed, made up, and READY. I even made cranberry muffins out of boredom. (well, also used flour and cranberries and stuff) Kids are still asleep. Dan and I are reminiscing about the early days when we would come home from midnight services and stay up until three putting together bikes and HeMen forts, and one horrible 16 degree night, an entire trampoline outside. Then we would get two hours of sleep before being jumped on by two screaming kids. In self defense, we started the take stockings to bed and open alone rule thus gaining a precious extra 20-30 minutes of sleep. We even allowed them to eat the candy in bed. One year, CW got up at 4 am; that was the year we established the hands on clock must be vertical rule.
Times have sure changed. We are going to wake them up now because we head off to the grandparents at 1. Besides, I want to open MY presents- especially the stack of books!
