Given the upcoming transition to SDLT and plenty of potential competition from LTO (esp the IBM version) and maybe even EXBT (if they get their act together), the tape drives may be seeing their best days. Both competing products are expected to have higher transfer rates and at least EXBT will be lower cost. LTO should also since they don't have to worry about backward compatibility.

At what price is EXBT a buy just for Mammoth II and their library business? They don't seem inclined to sell out but management clearly needs to change. -Z
