Thanks. I didn't think I was being misled by Quantum's IR dept. I think they were telling analysts the same thing. Management saw that sales weren't going to be strong enough to counter drops in pricing once the numbers got added up.

quantum mentioned in the CC that they expectd some shake-out of HDD manuafcturers. In the long run this will be good for Quantum as they will have fewer companies to share a growing market with. In the short-term more bad news can come out of Asia that could mess up the market for tech stocks, including QNTM.

There is an interesting article in Forbes about the effects of the Asian crisis on SEG and other electronics companies. The thinking applies to Quantum as well. The jest of it is that the Asian situation is a mixed bag with some companies losing, some at a wash and some benefitting, if even slightly due to lower costs of products produced in Asia.

I am waiting for a sign that the momentum has started to shift and will probably buy on the upside rather than try to pick the bottom.
