I read that Apple doesn't have a v.president of sales and/or marketing. Is this true?
I read your dialogue. Sony must have some cool deals. Where are the Apple deals? I guess making "Crazy Eddy" type deals is to hoity toity for Apple. I went to the Apple Store and priced some G3s. I get the feeling that all configuations are on the expensive side. No matter how you cut it, it can cost about $2500 easy. I get the feeling these machines are too expensive for the average first time buyer. Apples may have certain things standard whereas on Wintel machines you may have to pay extra but the ordinary buyer doesn't know this and realy is at the mercy of the sales person. This leads to the next questions. Do you think the Apple machines are over engineered for most buyers who don't know beans about computers let alone SCSIs. Getting back to the different configurations. To me a better price range for these machines would be about half the price. Then Apple will be competitive. Is Apple coming out with a below $1000 machine? I guess being late is better than not being there at all.
