I have to agree with your conclusion. Although the paper tries to present it in the best light this is an admission that Inferno is not a hard real time operating system. Also, in a Java Developers Journal interview sys-con.com with the three primary developers of Inferno one of them comments that in addition to having a standalone operating system they "have an emulation system that runs on top of other peoples operating systems". Just to clinch it, Chorus Systems (France) put out a press release chorus.com that its RTOS would be ONE of the internal operating systems used by Lucent for its next generation transmission products. This prompted one Lucent employee to post a message to Lucent's Inferno Mail-list to assure people that Chorus will play a minor role and that they are working on several large projects using Inferno as a native operating system.

Hmmm.....if one decided to use Inferno for an application and needed a robust and proven RTOS for Inferno to reside over I wonder where one might find such a system?
