Thanks for your input. I have really been trying to understand how the DD dynamics changed so rapidly. Not too long ago, it appeared that significant consolidation had occurred in the industry which would result in an end to these crash and burn cycles we have had in the past. That also seemed to be the concensus on the thread. It appears that the wild card that was really not taken seriously were the Japanese manufacturers. Now they appear to have been severely hampered by the latest economic situation in Asia.

Your comments certainly help to place one more piece in this puzzle. However, I am still trying to understand how things deteriorated so rapidly, it seems, to everybody's surprise.
