I subscribe to the Roland VS-series mailing list. On this mailing list is a tech rep from SyQuest, who takes time out of his own personal life to help out and offer Syjet advice to people on the list. Roland Inc. used to incorporate the Iomega Jaz into its VS-880 hard disc recorder, but stopped due to reliability concerns and product returns. Roland now endorses the external Syquest Syjet for use with its VS series recorders.
Anyway, this tech rep from Syquest wrote to the list yesterday to help someone partition a Syjet cart properly. He said offhand that he and others were "heavily beta testing" the new 4 Gig Quest drive. He says its release is imminent, perhaps a firm release date to be announced at the PC Expo, NYC next week.
He said "4 one Gig partitions!," and that was enough to make a lot of people salivate on the list. The point is, that this Quest drive could prove to be a smash hit with musicians. And, also with video people I would wager. It's retail price is supposed to be right around that of the 2 Gig Jaz2.
4 Gig Syquest Quest. You may be seeing it very soon, at least according to a successful beta tester. |
