Boy I have a hard time thinking that once we have fiber to the curb or even if we do not, ideas will dry up.
I agree that the new electronic infrastructure should get all sorts of new ways of doing things. I was just thinking in terms of railroad, etc. Things started going well for the rail-steel-coal paradigm in the 1830s and continued for 50 years. It's just that a lot of great companies of the day had no followup plan for when the rail was ocean to ocean and all points between. It was another set of companies which succeeded with the auto-oil-concrete business. (and still another set which invented fast food and drive ins).

These days cycles may be faster than 50 years.
