That is partially true. For the history buffs there was a brief history when czar was deposed by "democratic" oriented GVN. However if you are implying Revolution (October 1917 by old calendar, November 7, 1917 by modern) it is an opposite..Bllody .Civil war that
ensured Red army vs White army (latter led by former Czar officers)
pinned brother against brother and were mostly peasants on both sides) over 2 mln people were killed (nothing in comparison to Red Terror that followed and formation of GULAG system)

As for what I posted-no intent to stereotype-many Great People and Minds in Russia) But country is on downhill slope for hundreds of years and is ravaged by Alcohol to the unthinkable point. Life.average expectancy is no longer reported sinse it reached 55 years for men in 1991 (Alcohol is a major factor, others total lack of Medicine (another consequence of "fabuolous" military achievement,
and deplorable living and working conditions...
