The Quality of Service at Ameritrade is much better than you would believe after just reading those two answers in this thread.

1) If you specify accordingly you'll get e-mail confirmation of your trades immediately after the trade is completed. That work very quickly and reduces any problems that might occur with their system sometimes.

2) If you know what securities you have traded it is actually not a big disadvantage if their servers aren't updated always by the next day - unless you are a day trader, doing many trades at the same day.
Ameritrade's Online services have been very accurate so far

3) Ameritrade's e-mail support is very responsive and helpful -
Just try once to get E-Mail answers from Datek and you know what I mean! If you have one single problem (and you will have minor problems with every broker) you'll be glad to get support from your broker.

So far I can recommend Ameritrade as well as J.B. Oxford & Company where I have another account with trading fees of $18.- but free real time quotes.
