skipper.....look at it mathematically if you want to leave faith out of it.
If You love Jesus a bunch and you love your parents that same bunch..
no household divides.
Jesus commanded us to love everyone as much as ourself and love Jesus that much too.

Of course it's a trick statement He made. unless you love God with all your heart and Love Jesus and have him in you..
then you cannot love your parents or kids as equal to Jesus.

I'll prove it.... you at some time hurt your parents and lied to them or something.. You have not had a perfect love realtionship with your parents. If you have kids it's the same.
If you love Jesus with all your heart you have the capacity to love your parents as much as Jesus.. in fact that's the only way it is possible.
You will set father against son only if you don't love Jesus to infinity and you parents that way too.....
trick statement.... that cults have used to get weak people to hate parents when in fact that is not true.
Try it. and then you will see.
Of course you haven't tried it and in many ways you have hurt your parents.

As to religion...Jesus didn't say that. it's religion that is the
curse of the world.
Love of the Father and your parents and kids to the ultimate is not religion and cannot be accomplished with religion.

The only division of households happens when other people
divide from you since we were commanded to love our brother as yourself.
and honor mother and father.
Skipper...you have been blinded by the god of this world.
That's why your father and mother were hurt..
Jesus never wanted it to happen. and , it happened becuase you didn't love parents as much as Jesus.
