SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2001-- Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP - news), the leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions, announced today at Oracle AppsWorld 2001 that Network Appliance(TM) Snapshot and SnapMirror backup and recovery software solutions have successfully completed all testing for Oracle database environments. These are the latest Network Appliance solutions to receive validation under the Oracle Storage Compatibility Program (OSCP), further deepening the company's reach into the enterprise by enabling Oracle's vast customer base to utilize Network Appliance for critical database protection. Oracle and Network Appliance have a successful history of providing customers with database and storage solutions that are highly available, extremely reliable and simple to both manage and expand.

``With this announcement, Network Appliance further expands its leadership in delivering storage and data management solutions for enterprise database environments,'' said Mark Santora, senior vice president of marketing at Network Appliance. ``We are excited about Oracle's OSCP validation and look forward to our continued success with Oracle in meeting the enterprise market needs.''

SnapMirror is a data replication tool designed to enhance data availability and promote business continuance for applications such as disaster recovery. It delivers a fast, flexible enterprise solution for implementing remote mirroring of file systems over local or wide area networks. SnapMirror can be deployed in a heterogeneous environment of NetApp® filers to achieve the best mirroring price/performance for systems, including the use of a single filer to back up multiple filers. Snapshot software enables administrators to perform online backups and enables near-instantaneous recovery of even multiple-terabyte-sized databases, without having to recover from tape.

Oracle created the Oracle Storage Compatibility Program (OSCP) to assist third parties with Oracle compatibility. The OSCP facilitates the development of storage solutions for Oracle. Through OSCP technical and marketing programs, members receive the tools and resources they need to build Oracle-compatible storage solutions for Oracle customers.
