rsie,

Interesting multiplying the low/high numbers in the 1966-82 secular bear market when comparing to the low/highs of the current secular bear. Interesting how many years the 1966-82 secular bear continued after the 1975 lows were established. Interesting how the secular bear ended in October of 1982 (when Bob made his all-in local radio call at DOW 777 - which hasn't been seen since and hopefully will never be seen again) when it became apparent to investors that the new administration's growth oriented policies (lower tax rates, deregulation...pro private sector growth policies, together with Paul Volcker's tough stance on the then raging inflation and interest rates) were going to have a positive impact on the then dismal economic situation. My perception is that in current times, such "turn the corner policies" are yet to be seen as imminent by current investors.

Interesting I say because I firmly believe that "The past is not the future" as motivational speaker Anthony Robbins says so well. I like to mostly use charts when I'm looking to estimate the best points to buy or sell individual stocks. After all, nobody knows for sure what the market or an individual stock will do in the next minute going forward.

Best wishes,

P
