The story, as told by a close friend of the Tabby, is that Sun's West Coast sales reps
"overcommitted" Sun's support for Veritas' high-availability software and other
programs. After the IT group shelled out big bucks for a high-level support contract
based primarily on that commitment, Sun's East Coast techies said Sun didn't really
support the configuration as planned. The reps also overstated their tight relationship
with Lotus/IBM--they couldn't even get a Lotus technician on site to help with the
Notes install. Unfortunately for Sun, the server room is just down the hall from Rumor
Central.
