Well, yeah, a $800 freebie would get more attention than a $150 one.

But the point is that MacMall believes that giving away Zip drives is
an incentive to get people to buy CPUs. It not only sounds better
than "free mouse pad," but IS better. A mouse pad isn't going to sway
you to buy a computer from one source over another; a free Zip might
do that (at least that's what MacMall is hoping).

I should have also noted in my previous post that MacMall is also
giving away a copy of Freehand 5.5 with every CPU. Which is one of
the premier design tools for the Mac and, like the Zip, is a
recognized brand name.
