to cube investors: i hope you are not panick selling into the TDK news.

dppl: cube's drop is majorly caused by some mis-perception of fundamentals regarding MPEG technology. however, it can be interpreted as worries of TI's over-involvement in the DVD business. TI and cube has joint development contracts (for the exact terms of contract, refer to cube's annual report). TDK's silicon system DOES NOT have the MPEG encoding/decoding technology. silicon system is involved in the manufacture of HARD DISK/DVD-rom/CD-rom storage related controllers.

storage controllers -- stores "digital" data on storage mediums.

i was told CNBC mentioned digital video regarding silicon system's technology. it is true to some extent. silicon system DVD(cd)-roms controllers are required in the MPEG related storage. each MPEG decoder require a rom-controller as an interface to the electronic application. however, controller technology has no relationship with MPEG itself.

don't panick sell into the news.

Texas Instrument has been manufacturing MPEG chips for years. they manufacture so-called "vanilla" chips. this is not a new market for them.

TI's chip will likely assimilate Hyundai's DVD chip.

a bullish remark.
texas instrument's acquisition of silicon system may be percepted as a medium to combine cube's effort in applying MPEG technology to control the transport controller market (including rom controller and broadcast transport demultiplexer). cube and texas instrument has major production and research contract. TI's MPEG business relies on cube's core technology.

paul, i hope you did not panick sell. please check your fundamentals before you post satire remarks.
