I understand this, you have to buy low and sell high, otherwise you don't make $$. The market goes up and down. Bush's war depressed the market for a year so it looked liike a great rebound when it finally sprang back. Now if you had bought during the Iraq War you'd have made out very nicely. But if you've bought since you can still lose your shirt or making nothing. In the 90's, a lot of people made classic mistakes and fell for the hype. But Clinton created 2 million new jobs, Bush has lost 3 million despite the greatest ever deficit spending since WWII. Clinton wins by a mile no atter what the market gyrations were.
