"And what of the President of Iran's repeated statements that Israel had no right to exist and should be destroyed?"

ask richnorth, not me...(g)

I am reevaluating the international politics of the area. Of course pres nutjob is a nutjob but basic national interests trancend the folks in power for the most part. Bush neocon was/is an abberation for the US and no matter who follows bush, it's the dustbin for neocons. Ahamdijad is president for the moment and i suspect he wont be around too long either. Power is with establishments and elites in both countries and true national interests may indicate the need for shiaa/america alliance, if only tactical to rid the world of al queda international terrorism which is probably more of an immediate threat to them than to us. No doubt iran, hizbo, hamas and syria have played with terrorism at various points in their modern history. But there is no reason there cant be a hudna with the US and a renunciation of the use of terror. Hell there was already one in place between israel and hamas and basically still is.
