My point was that the peaceful or assimilated Muslims don't follow the koran line and verse like that, just as most people of other faiths don't blindly follow or fully know what is in their holy books, in my opinion. I am sure the Muslim guy I work with doesn't think of himself as any less Muslim because he interacts with me.

You might be surprised what he thinks. There are a lot posts on the thread about how it is completely acceptable to lie to Kafir.
