You're right.

With the reasonable expectation of getting licences from Broadcom and Nokia, there isn't much point in spending a fortune trying to come up with alternatives to their patents.

Since Broadcon and NOK are intent on destroying Q's business model, it is foolhardy not to start to look for alternatives the minute a patent is challenged.
