As we speak, I'm watching the SPX puts I bought in my retirement account there inching up in value (for the moment, lol).

I know that in places like ETRADE, you have to fill out a form and get 'approved', but you should be allowed to....unless it's a company 401K where they have a fixed list of mutual funds that you can trade.
