I disagree on one of your points - that "any company showing 85% growth is not a good short" - maintaining that type of growth rate is very tough and managing such torrid growth without screwing up is tougher. Combine that with the tendency of momentum players and daytraders to disregard valuation, and sometimes those that have grown the fastest in the past can make good shorts.
