IVDO and AMTX - 2 stocks trying to solve the video transmission dillemma ... One promises to do it through software, the other through hardware. Maybe they will succeed, but this kind of technological progress involves evolution ... not revolution. Unfortunately, evolution involves painful, slow earning years. Just look at the ISDN technology that's been around for 10 years now and is just starting to be a hit. Technology investors look for companies that develop the next thing ... much like the next big screen TV. I'm in the computer industry ... I won't hesitate to trade my 28.8 modem once ISDN becomes cheap but most consumers are not like that. In fact, some of the surveys I've read show that more than 80% of all 'wired' households have 14.4 modems and under. IVDO, AMTX, these may be next generation technologies ... but guess who'll benefit the most in earnings ... THE 2ND TIER TECHNOLOGIES WHY? Because newer technologies force drastic reduction in prices of 2nd tier technologies ... and 3rd tier technologies are practically freebies. Consumers then, at last can trade their old junk to jump at what is always considered the BEST BUY ... those 1 - 2 year old technologies ... IT has always been like that ... and will always be as long as mothers control the purse strings ...
