Party members will always be excited for their candidate, but I agree with you, so much can happen between now and the election. This election is up for grabs, and no one can know who is going to win.

Party members put their best face on and say how they are going to win, absolutely, but just as in sports, the game must first be played until the final minute to determine who the winner actually will be. Either one of the two candidates can explode and fall apart before the election.

Speculation is fun, sometimes, but at this point it's way to early to predict anything. Look at how quickly Dean rose up, and look at how quickly he fell down. Look at how quickly Kerry rose up; now we'll see whether he falls down just as fast.
Time will tell.
