I'm surprised that I'd never heard of the Gimli Glider. That was a helluva professional piloting job of getting that plane down without a single casualty. Thanks for posting the link.

One incident that I can recall was this crash of a defective DC-10 in Iowa..

Also vaguely recall a story about a 747 that lost 2 engines, both on the same wing, while midway over the Pacific on a flight from Hawaii to the mainland US. They made it here safely, but it must have been difficult to fly and land it with that kind of engine failure. I liked flying on 747s on long flights and will miss them in the future..
