Interactive Week's 'Fast 50' Recognizes BEA as Market Leader for The Second Quarter Running

BEA Soars to Number Two Position on Coveted High-Tech Company Ranking

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), one of the world's leading e-business infrastructure software companies, is yet again validated as a market leader for its award-winning e-business software in Interactive Week's "Fast 50."

Best known for BEA WebLogic Server, the market-share leading J2EE application server in the market, BEA made the list for the second quarter in a row, this time shooting up 38 spots to the number two position. Explaining the surge of BEA -- the only application server provider to make the rankings -- Interactive Week noted that, "The supplier of software to power business-to-business exchanges and application integration solutions leaped ahead on the strength of its improving profitability and the recognition it has won from investors." Interactive Week also highlighted the fact that "BEA had the second largest total return to shareholders for the period." To view the complete story from Interactive Week's December 11, 2000 issue, please go to zdnet.com

BEA was selected for Interactive Week's "Fast 50" by meeting the following leadership-defining criteria: demonstrating momentum in its market; increasing profits from basic operations on quarterly and annual basis; providing shareholder satisfaction; and positioning itself for a bright future. Two hundred companies are selectively ranked in six categories and the highest-ranking companies make the "Fast 50."

This ranking underscores BEA Systems' product strength, customer acceptance, and superior quarter-on-quarter growth.
